What is SCOSIC?
SCOSIC enhances the lives of seniors by centralizing service, resource and program information, promoting a healthier senior community.
The Southwest Valley is growing rapidly and is a premier residential area for active adult living. Whether you want to participate in arts and cultural activities; clubs and interest groups; continued education; sports including our own Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Coyotes, multiple major league baseball spring training, NASCAR, IMS Marathon as well as plenty of golf, tennis, swimming pools, hiking and biking trails; good medical facilities and independent living care, it is all available in our community.
Seniors want health and community support services, opportunities to be socially active, to take part in volunteer, political and employment positions and information needs to be easy to find and easy to understand. In other words, the community must be set up to help seniors live safely, enjoy good health and stay involved. Our region has a powerful network to help senior citizens. But one stop or centralized access, public transportation and knowledge of these services remain barriers for those who don’t know that these services exist. Even when seniors who need help understand where to turn, it can be tough to navigate the maze of application forms and eligibility requirements.
We’ve all heard the phrase.... “life is a journey”. Have you ever wondered why there wasn’t a road map provided at birth? If we had a road map to guide us when making decisions about healthcare, living communities, estate planning and financial decisions for ourselves, spouse or elderly parents the process might not be so overwhelming. SCOSIC is committed to being your gateway to a full range of community education, services and resources to help seniors, and their caregivers, maintain independence, security and quality of life.
Project Boost/Meals of Joy, is a lunch program that is available to provide tasty, nutritious and well-balanced meals to those in need. For example, this might be after a hospital stay or for home-bound and/or disabled seniors. Imagine a fresh-made meal delivered right to your front door!
Senior adults thrive in an environment that offers an energetic, vibrant lifestyle with a variety of opportunities to engage the mind, body and spirit. Through academic learning, educational adventure travel and our renewed sense of volunteerism, we expand our awareness, embrace self-fulfillment, and truly create an exciting multi-dimensional life. It doesn’t get any better than that!
